My third baby was born in early September! Long time Erstwhile Dear reader, now Substack reader. I almost emailed you to ask if you would write about, how does one fill up the cup of the older kiddos when you have so little in your own cup during the baby days in a larger family? This essay touches on that lightly and I so appreciate the wisdom of a fifth time Mama. Thank you!
I am planning to transfer my home ed bits & pieces to Substack. I was only able to move a couple of posts from Wordpress without any trouble, unfortunately.
I had a blank template that I was happy to email to people who asked but I'd have to search for it. I'll let you know when I find it if that would be helpful to you.
Congratulations! My (third) baby was born end of September too, and I'm enjoying her so much. I love your thoughts about the fleeting time with babies and the phases they go through.
Your mention of lists made me think of the delightfully odd picture book The Liszts by Kyo Maclear. It has a Royal Tenenbaums feel to it- highly recommend!
Your posts never disappoint! Congrats on the new little one. I found multiple bits of encouragement and direct points of action in this post alone, thank you for sharing your tips and advice.
Thank you for this write up! I've been anticipating your review of the last few months with a newborn added to your life. Some of my favorites here: pomegranate seeds as "tiny garnets", the lovely pattern play on the bed, the 3 simple concepts - yes! we've been leaning into those too, and Carol Hudson has been a great new resource for me too. Looking forward to checking out Not Young. Better. Question: how did you get your kids started with pen pals? (and how do you keep it going?). Looking into this for my 7 and 9 year old boys.

''Not much has been happening at my house" Ha!

Grandparents line made me chuckle. What beautiful perspective though!
Not much has been happening at my house made me laugh!!! Congratulations on your new baby! :)

Hearing your thoughts on your fifth baby is encouraging to me as we contemplate our third! Beautiful window.
